The Duke of Edinburgh award scheme is open to anyone aged 14 – 25.
It challenges the participants to take on new challenges and learn new skills.
The Duke of Edinburgh award forms a large part of the syllabus at Solar ESU. When preparing for our two expeditions each year you will find us in the hall; planning routes, going over first aid, sorting out project work and generally getting ready for 4 – 6 sessions each term.
As well as a 2, 3 or day 4 expedition our members have to learn new Skills, take part in a regular physical activity and do some form of volunteer work – as such we provide a large number of young leaders for other local youth groups in the area.
